  1. ELYSIA 4 - .A black ink and gray color pencil drawing on an 11 x 14 size vellum paper. It appears in the book, "Elysia: the Coming of Cthulhu," by Brian Lumley, published by Ganley in 1989.

Behind those dark sultry eyes there is an unmistakable aura of sensuous attractiveness that men find impossible to deny . . .

Reading about imaginary people doing courageous things sometimes fills me with gratitude to those writers whose works convey man's great potential, and for giving us wonderful adventures that we readers can only dream about, tales for our heart's delight.

Some of the writers who spin these tales are often dismissed by critics, even considered as failures by the way the world measures success. But the significance of their continued publication remains to reproach those critics who make contemptuous judgments against them. By what values do you determine whether a mans work is a success, or a failure?

While criticism based on valid scholarship is important to literature, it is also important to be aware of pretentious criticism based on false scholarship.
